SANDEE organizes Environmental Economics and Policy: Research and Writing Workshop that discusses key policy concerns in South Asia related to environmental economics and how economic research can help address them. During the workshop participants get opportunity to receive feedback on their proposed research questions and methodology.

Dhaka, Bangladesh, 24 May 2015 -28 May 2015
The Asian Centre for Development (ACD) and the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) jointly organized a Research and Writing Workshop in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from May 24 – 28, 2015 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The objectives of the workshop was to introduce researchers to current policy-research concerns related to environment and development across South Asia, develop research proposal writing skills among researchers beginning to work on the economics of environmental problems, encourage empirical research that can contribute to sustainable development in Bangladesh and across South Asia and examine options for cross-country research. The workshop provided practical training where participants first identify research issues and then develop research proposals with guidance from local and international experts. Most of the participants of this workshop were from Bangladesh. The faculty of the course were Prof. A. K. Enamul Haque, Dr. Ziaul Haider from Bangladesh, Dr. Saudamini Das from India and SANDEE colleagues Dr. Mani Nepal and Dr. Heman Das Lohano.

Centre of Excellence in Environmental Economics, College of Horticulture, Kerala Agricultural University, Kerala, India, 18 Jan 2014 – 22 Jan 2014
The Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) and the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) jointly organized a Research and Writing Workshop in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics during January 18 – 22, 2014 at the Centre of Excellence in Environmental Economics in Vellanikkara, Thrissur District. The aim of this workshop was to build research capacity in the area of environment and resource economics in South India and Sri Lanka. The workshop provided practical training where participants first identify research issues and then develop research concepts into research proposals under the guidance and assistance of resource persons. A total of 15 participants attended the course. The resource persons of the course were A.K. Enamul Haque, Bangladesh; P. Indira Devi, R. Balasubraniam and P. Mukhopadhyay from India.

The Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) and the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) jointly organized a Research and Writing Workshop in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics during August 6-9, 2013 at the College of Natural Resources in Lobesa, Bhutan. The aim of this workshop was to build research capacity in the area of environment and resource economics. The objectives of the workshop is to develop research proposal writing skills among researchers beginning to work on the economics of environmental problems; to introduce researchers to current policy concerns and research themes related to environment and development across South Asia; and to encourage original research that can contribute to sustainable development in Bhutan and the South Asia region. The workshop provided an opportunity for Bhutanese researchers, especially researchers in RUB, interested in the field of environmental and natural resource economics to become more familiar with research concepts and techniques. ants.

Lahore, Pakistan, 06 Mar 2013 – 09 Mar 2013
The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) jointly organizing a Research and Writing Workshop in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics in March 2013 in Lahore. The aim of this workshop was to build research capacity in the area of environment and resource economics. The workshop provided an opportunity for Pakistani researchers interested in the field of environmental and natural resource economics to become more familiar with research concepts and techniques. It will also familiarized them with research in South Asia being undertaken by LUMS and SANDEE researchers. International and local experts will conduct the workshop.The workshop provided practical training where participants themselves developed concept notes into research proposals under the guidance and assistance of resource persons. A total of 16 participants were invited so that close attention can be given to each researcher’s proposal.

The Economic Research Group (ERG) and the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) jointly organized a Research and Writing Workshop in environmental and natural resource economics in October 2012 in Dhaka. The aim of this workshop was to build research capacity in the area of environment and resource economics. Bangladeshi researchers interested in the field of environmental and natural resource economics and wishing to improve proposal writing techniques attended this workshop.

South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) and Economic Research Group (ERG) jointly organized a workshop on proposal writing in environmental economics. This workshop provided a valuable opportunity for Bangladeshi researchers working in the field of environmental and natural resource economics to learn about the techniques of proposal writing and also to join the pool of researchers working with SANDEE’s network. Further, it offered opportunity for Bangladeshi researchers in environmental and natural resource economics to join the SANDEE network and its research activities encouraging them to submit research proposals to the SANDEE in future. Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) and South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) are jointly organizing a workshop on proposal writing in environmental economics. This workshop discussed key policy concerns in South Asia related to climate change and how economic research can help address them. Participants had an opportunity to receive feedback on their proposed research questions and methodology.

SANDEE jointly with Institute for Social and Economic Change organized a 4 day workshop on Proposal Writing in Environmental Economics from 21st – 25th August, 2006 in Bangalore, India. Ten researchers from India, Bangladesh and Nepal participated in the workshop.
