Only drastic cuts in global emissions can slow and limit the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of temperature rise in the Hindu Kush Himalaya. Global adaptation funds and programmes, loss and damage finance, and ecosystem restoration need to be urgently scaled up. The region needs greater coordination, higher levels of political commitment and deeper collaboration to meet accelerating impacts. In the light of unprecedented threats, this strategic group sets out to drive closer coordination among key players within the region and to accelerate global action on mitigation and funding for adaptation, loss and damages and investments. We do this by increasing understanding of the significance and vulnerability of the Hindu Kush Himalaya regionally and globally, advocating for the region and for action and investment to address shared challenges in global fora and multilateral processes building data about the region and enhancing the collaboration among our member countries.
