Regional Conference on Mountain Agriculture, with Focus on Ecosystem Services, Agri-Extension, and Market Linkages

In order to share the wealth of knowledge generated from its activities, Himalica in collaboration with the Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) and the Department of Agriculture (DoA), Nepal are jointly organising a regional conference on mountain agriculture focusing on ecosystem services, agri-extension for promoting climate-resilient agricultural technologies and practices, and market linkages for improving mountain livelihoods. It is expected that this outreach event will result not only in the uptake of knowledge in policy and practice but also in higher education, training, and research. These are key areas HUC focuses on to contribute to enhanced collaboration among universities in the region and the promotion of centres of excellence on topics of relevance to the region.

The conference aims to disseminate the knowledge generated from various Himalica AR and pilots among key stakeholders from policy and practice domains and facilitate mutual learning from policy and practice initiatives related to mountain agriculture. It will also create an opportunity to link Himalica’s research with institutional capacity building through HUC and expand the regional network of researchers, practitioners, donors, and policymakers interested in promoting climate-resilient livelihoods in the HKH.
