The two organizations will work jointly to engage in programmes of mutual interest and mobilize resources and expertise. They will undertake knowledge sharing and the development of joint products on topics associated with mountain areas and mountain communities in Pakistan. The MoU focuses on activities where mountain economic development will be a key activity by engaging the private sector and focusing on enterprise development. It will also explore joint projects and resources, where appropriate, based on the areas of cooperation identified. Currently, Hashoo Foundation is a member of ICIMOD’s Upper Indus Basin Network, which is a part of the Indus River Basin Initiative under the organization’s Regional Programme 3 on River Basins.

Based in Islamabad, Hashoo Foundation is a progressive and dynamic nonprofit organization, which has been leading the way in human development and poverty alleviation in Pakistan by implementing viable economic development, human capital development, and social protection programmes in the country since 1988. Hashoo Foundation envisages an ethical, equitable, inclusive and progressive society in which people live with dignity and have power over their own lives. It emphasizes on serving marginalized communities, particularly women, children, and young people, across its targeted areas. It focuses on fostering entrepreneurship in order to improve the quality of life of its beneficiaries and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for them. Hashoo Foundation aims to help communities in Pakistan enjoy better quality of life through greater socio-economic empowerment by 2018.
