Research expedition to Rikha Samba Glacier, Nepal

About the fieldwork

Our research expedition team is conducting the annual monitoring of glaciological, hydrological, meteorological, and permafrost observations in the Hidden Valley, Mustang, Nepal.

The primary goals of the research expedition include:

• Annual mass balance measurement of Rikha Samba Glacier
• On and off glacier automated weather station maintenance and data download
• Data retrieval and maintenance of permafrost sensor in the Hidden Valley
• Installation of new loggers to extend precipitation and temperature observations along the vertical transect on the way to the Hidden Valley
