SSA – KMC Associate,
Knowledge Management and Communication
My role as a KMC focal person for the Kailash Sacred Landscape Conservation and Development Initiative and the Hindu Kush Karakoram Pamir Landscape Initiative under the Transboundary Landscapes Regional Programme entails liaising between the initiatives and our audiences to communicate about the challenges faced within the region and the related interventions of our initiatives. In addition, I’m also responsible for supporting the initiatives with documentation, planning and outreach, and internal coordination.
How do you protect the pulse of the planet?
I protect the pulse through my work as a communication focal point. This role allows me to convey and deliver messages about environmental and livelihood challenges emerging in the HKH region to the governments, think tanks, other organizations and the general public.
What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?
Definitely the people! I love how people accept you for what you are and welcome you into their social world. Working with such amiable personalities is what I enjoy the most at ICIMOD.
What are you passionate about?
I am extremely passionate about fiction. I believe that reading fiction has helped me understand the world better and also sharpen my ability to imagine. During my downtime, I love to indulge myself with food. And I’m pretty passionate about cooking.
I completed my undergraduate degree in english literature and social work from St. Xavier’s College, Nepal. I’ve been working in the field of communication for about four years, with several organizations in planning and organizing outreach events related to disability and children. In 2018, as an intern to the United Nations Information Centre, I assisted in content development and regular database maintenance for the UN digital repository. I also got selected for the Erasmus Mundus programme in Finland to study about community, participation and empowerment. Currently, I am pursuing my postgraduate degree in sociology from Tribhuwan University.
