My role at ICIMOD

Dr Neera Shrestha Pradhan, a Nepali national, joined ICIMOD in July 2010 and is working as the Programme Coordinator for Water Resources Management in Afghanistan, and Senior Water and Adaptation Specialist. Dr Pradhan brings almost 20 years of experience as programme manager and subject specialist in the field of river basin management, community based adaptation, disaster risk reduction, environmental management and impact assessment, and freshwater conservation and management. Before joining ICIMOD, she worked with WWF Nepal, IUCN Nepal, and IUCN Asia Regional Office on Environmental Impact Assessment in various capacities. Some of her major achievements include the establishment of Koshi River Basin Management Programme at WWF Nepal, support the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation for the declaration of first four high altitude wetlands as Ramsar site, and securing UNFCCC’s Momentum for Change 2014 Lighthouse Activity Award for community based flood early warning system. Dr Pradhan holds a PhD Degree from Kunming Institute of Botany, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. She has completed her Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, and a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the Regional Engineering College, Durgapur, India. Dr Pradhan has published several scientific peer reviewed papers, journal articles and book chapters.
