Event focus

The eight Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) countries signed a Ministerial Declaration and launched the HKH Call to Action during the landmark 2020 HKH Ministerial Mountain Summit. This declaration focused on sustaining mountain environments and improving livelihoods in the HKH, a region particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts. The historic agreement highlights the need for regional collaboration and ambitious climate action to limit global warming to 1.5 °C and adapt to climate change impacts.

Following up on the conceptual introduction of the Mountains of Opportunity Investment Framework (MOIF) during COP26 in 2021, this event aims to address the need, challenges, and opportunities for climate and sustainability investments in the HKH region. These discussions will support the further development of the MOIF, bringing together an alliance of knowledge, development, and investor partners working in and for the HKH.
