Training Workshop

Implementing the Nibuwa-Tankhuwa Watershed Management Plan

Venue

Dhankuta

Date & Time

02 June 2022 to 03 June 2022

About the workshop

The Koshi Basin Initiative under ICIMOD’s River Basins and Cryosphere Regional Programme and Dhankuta Municipality are organising this training workshop to build stakeholder capacity for implementing the Nibuwa-Tankhuwa Watershed Management Plan in Dhankuta. The training will provide stakeholders with a detailed understanding of springshed and watershed management and implementation.

The Nibuwa-Tankhuwa Watershed Plan (NTWMP) was prepared based on research and multistakeholder consultations involving communities and other key stakeholders from 2018-2020. The plan was handed over to the local municipalities by ICIMOD in 2021.

The watershed management plan will help decision makers and practitioners at the ward, municipality, basin, and national levels to understand the status of the watershed; problems, issues, risks, and opportunities; and leverage investments for watershed management in the short and long term.

Objectives

The overarching objective of the workshop is to enhance the capacity of stakeholders to implement the watershed management plan.

The specific objectives are:

  • To sensitize newly-elected local government representatives and stakeholders in implementing the management plan
