The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), in collaboration with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), organized World Meteorological Day (WMD) on 23 March 2016 at the Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (IMG), Karachi. More than 100 participants from government and non-government organizations and educational institutions attended the event. Muhammad Musleh Uddin, Director (Retd.) of IMG, was the chief guest at the event.
In his presentation, Dr Ghulam Rasul, Director General of PMD, said that climate science and climate-related challenges should be shared with people and policymakers for appropriate adaptive actions. A flyer containing mitigation and adaptation strategies and messages from the Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Secretary and Chairman of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Board was also distributed among all participants.
The event ended with souvenir distribution among the partners and a visit to an exhibition of meteorological and seismological instruments, meteorological charts and meteorological products.
