IRBM training 2025: Call for Application

TAKE THE COURSE

We are seeking applications working in the field of IRBM across government, academia, and non-government organisations. Participants demonstrating exceptional learning during the online course with grade above 80% and with the capability to promote the knowledge and use IRBM in their respective work roles across the HKH will be given preference.

A total of six participants will be selected on the basis of the grading from the course and through competitive selection process.

Age and language

Applicants must be below 40 years of age, working in the area of water resource management and have good command of written and spoken English.

Experience in IRBM

Applicants must have an academic degree(s) in water resource management, environmental science, hydrology, ecology, geography or civil engineering with two to four years of direct work experience in IWRM/IRBM, or over 5 years of working exposure in IWRM/IRBM. Contributions in professional and/or academic literature in the field of IWRM/IRBM is an added advantage.

Potential to influence IRBM approach

Applicants demonstrating the capacity to impact science, policy, and institutional direction in the field of IRBM will be given priority. Similarly, those who have made substantial contributions to the literature on water resources and have experience in creatively managing resources and effectively engaging with stakeholders in decision-making roles related to IRBM will have an additional advantage.

Institutional affiliation and commitment

Applicants must be employed and should have been in the current organisation for at least two years.  Affiliation with a national, regional, or international institution or academic institution working in the areas of water management is desirable. A letter from the employer demonstrating commitment to maintaining and supporting their IRBM role/responsibilities is mandatory.

GEDSI

GEDSI principles strongly encourages the inclusion of women, youth, people with disabilities, indigenous people, and ethnic minorities. Applicants with experience addressing GEDSI in their work either as lead or supported project design, planning, implementation and outcomes, publications, or other evidence can also apply.

Participants’ commitment
  1. Attend the online training within 21 days with field exposure to Yangtze River Basin in China.
  2. Submit institutional commitment from their organization to attend the training.
  3. Implement the newly acquired concepts from the training in their respective IRBM tasks as described in the expression of interest form.
  4. Conduct learning sessions beyond the training and participate in tracer survey.
Application process

Interested and eligible candidates are requested register to the IRBM training course and complete with 80% above grade before 6 October 2025, 23:59 Nepal Standard Time. Participants wanting to be shortlisted for the exposure field visit starting from 7 – 15 November, 2025 shall continue with the course and complete the application form attached at the end of the session.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed by 10 October 2025.
