ICIMOD and UNESCO
are organizing a regional workshop on Climate Change Impacts in Asian Mountains 13–15 March at ICIMOD Headquarters, Kathmandu, Nepal. The three-day workshop will bring together experts, policy makers, local stakeholders, and managers of Natural Heritage Sites from Asian countries, including the Hindu Kush Himalayan region
, to start a dialogue on how to deal with the effects of climate change in Asian mountains. The workshop will identify the need for capacity building programmes in the region, review current and future plans for adapting strategies, and discuss how to best implement strategies at the community level. The workshop will help develop policy directives for climate resilient development and ecosystem-based adaptation for mountain communities. This will contribute to UNESCO's global programme Climate Change Impacts in Major Mountainous Regions of the World: Multidisciplinary Network for Adaptation Strategies (Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe).
