Swasti Shrestha joined ICIMOD in May 2015 as an intern for the Indus Basin Initiative. She holds a Master of Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University. Before joining ICIMOD, Ms Shrestha was engaged in a variety of field work related to water quality assessment (including wetlands), renewable energy, and forest carbon assessment, as well as environment awareness campaigns in communities. A long-time resident of Kirtipur, Ms Shrestha started her career as an on-job-trainee at the Energy Sector Assistance Programme (ESAP), Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC), where she conducted an assessment of renewable energy in Rautahat. Later, Ms Shrestha joined the Youth Alliance for Environment as a programme officer where she prepared proposals and assisted in conducting trainings related to REDD+ and biodiversity conservation. At ICIMOD, she will summarize data sets and publications that have been prepared by various institutions working in the Indus basin in Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, and India.
