Bernard Cantin

Bernard Cantin is currently Program Leader for the International Development Research Centre, a Canadian agency. He leads a 5-year initiative called Collaborative Adaptation Research Initiative in Africa and Asia, in partnership with the UK Department for International Development, which aims to build the resilience of vulnerable populations and their livelihoods in three hot-spots (major deltas, basin-fed glaciers, and semi-arid regions) by supporting collaborative research to inform policy and practice. 

Bernard received a Ph.D in Political Science and an MSc in Economics from the University of Montreal. He specialized in international affairs, comparative politics, macroeconomics, and environmental policy.
His work experience includes consultancy in strategic planning and 15 years in policy work and research for the Government of Canada in the areas of agriculture policy, fisheries management, water management, and climate change adaptation. Bernard also contributed as an author to a number of publications such as Horizons, the Canadian Water Resources Journal and Revue Canadienne de Science Politique.
