Sustainable Mountain Development Summit III-Kohima Summit 2013

The Sustainable Mountain Development Summit, a platform for Indian Himalayan states hosted by the Indian Mountain Initiative (IMI), is being organized from 25 to 27 September 2013. The IMI – SMDSIII or the Kohima Summit is organised by Sustainable Development Forum Nagaland (SDFN) in collaboration with LEAD India, YouthNet and ICIMOD.

This year, the summit will feature the three themes of forests, water, and agriculture with crosscutting themes of climate change adaptation, ecosystem services, biodiversity conservation, and gender. Dr David Molden, ICIMOD Director General, along with other ICIMOD colleagues will be participating in the Summit, including a presentation by the Director General on ‘Managing disasters, sustaining development: A narrative of the fragile Hindu Kush Himalayas’. Dr Dhrupad Choudhury, Adaptation to Change Regional Programme Manager, will join as an expert in the agriculture theme. Along with this ICIMOD is also a collaborator for the Youth Summit.

The summit will bring together participants from different Himalayan states in India to share experiences, discuss issues of development priority, and find ways to influence national and state public policies.
