Who we are

Discipline-specific knowledge

Our themes

We believe that integrated and transdisciplinary work is required to address complex mountain issues. To achieve integration and transdisciplinarity through our work, we think of our themes both conceptually and practically. Conceptually, they are topic areas critically relevant for the HKH. Practically, they are how we organize our working teams to build on our deep history and advance research over a broad range of fields covering the social and physical sciences.

Core competencies

Our efforts over more than three and a half decades have allowed us to develop expertise and a foundation of work across themes critically important to the HKH mountain agenda - ecosystems services, geospatial solutions, livelihoods, and water and air.
