Shekhar Ghimire

Mr Shekhar Ghimire is a Nepalese national, born and raised in Kathmandu. After completing a university degree in Business Administration in Nepal, he studied Chartered Accountancy in New Delhi, India. Thereafter, he obtained two professional degrees, Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Internal Auditor, from the USA. Mr Ghimire started his career in a public accounting firm, PP Pradhan & Co, where he carried out a range of audits and consultancies for INGOs and bilateral organisations in Nepal. He joined ActionAid Nepal in 2002 as the Head of Finance and Administration, moving later to ActionAid International as the Asia Regional Finance Coordinator at the Asia Regional Office in Bangkok, where he oversaw financial management in 12 countries in South and Southeast Asia and Australia. Mr Ghimire joined ICIMOD on 1 October 2010. He has travelled widely in Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia, as well as to very remote parts of Nepal. He is well versed in English, Nepali, Newari, and Hindi and has a working knowledge of Tamil and Thai.
