I have been working as the Head of the Information Technology (IT) unit at ICIMOD for the past 6 years. I am responsible for overall IT operations and security, which includes effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of server systems hardware and software, and related information and communication technology infrastructure, including network management.
How do you protect the pulse of the planet?
Information technology is the gateway to the outer world, and the lifeline of modern organizations. As such, information technology plays a big role in protecting the pulse by providing tools to disseminate relevant information to networks and stakeholders efficiently.
What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?
Working at ICIMOD has always fascinated me. The positive environment in and around the building and working with diverse people from different cultures around the world is what I enjoy the most.
What are you passionate about?
I am very passionate about cycling. Through cycling I have ventured around almost all the hills in Kathmandu and surrounding places and have been able to visit places I wouldn’t have otherwise visited.
I have over 25 years of experience in the Information and Technology field. Having completed my Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from RajShahi University of Engineering and Technology in Bangladesh and putting into practice my keen interest in the field of Information and Technology, I joined one of the leading computer vendors of the time as a senior technical engineer, where I worked for 2 years prior to joining ICIMOD. I have implemented strategies related to Information Security Management Systems leading to our qualification for ISO 27001:2013 certification for core IT services. I am also a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and have completed the foundation level certification for Information Technology Infrastructure Services.
