Water and climate analyst
Action area: Cryosphere and water
Climate and environmental risks

Md Rashed is a water and climate researcher with six years of experience in hydrological modelling, climate change adaptation, and integrated water resource management. His work involves applying hydrological modelling and data-driven approaches, including geographic information system (GIS)-based spatial analysis, groundwater recharge and salinity mapping, erosion prediction, and modelling future water availability under climate change scenarios.

Before joining ICIMOD, he held various research roles, focusing on climate modelling, hydrological simulations, remote sensing, and machine learning applications in water and climate sectors.

Rashed has published peer-reviewed articles in water and climate, and he is committed to contributing to science-based planning for resilient and sustainable river basin management in climate-vulnerable regions.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Bangladesh and a Master of Science (MSc) in Water Resources Development from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Bangladesh.
