Outreach Specialist Living Mountain Lab
Kilian joined ICIMOD in August 2024 and has been in his current role since May 2025. In this role, he leads partnership development, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge exchange across the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region.
Kilian focuses on expanding regional collaboration and mobilising resources for climate adaptation. He is currently working on replicating the Living Mountain Lab (LML) model in partnership countries, engaging with governments, universities, and international organisations.
Previously, Kilian served as a Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Development Advisor at the Living Mountain Lab, where he helped modernise its technology portfolio and expand institutional partnerships. Earlier, he worked with GIZ Nepal’s Green Resilient Agriculture Productive Ecosystems (GRAPE) project, managing climate-resilient livelihoods and organic farming initiatives. He has also supported GIZ’s sustainability programmes in both India and Nepal.
Kilian holds an MA in Development Studies from The Graduate Institute, Switzerland, and a BSc in International Politics from Aberystwyth University, UK, with study periods at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India and McGill University, Canada.
