Research Associate – Global Engagement Action area: Global Regional action and global advocacy
Bisrantee Wagle joined ICIMOD in July 2025 as a Research Associate. In this role, she focuses on research, analysis, and outreach to enhance the representation of the Hindu Kush Himalaya in global climate and biodiversity policy processes.
Prior to joining ICIMOD, Bisrantee worked on research, policy, and advocacy with a range of international organisations through consultancy assignments and internships. At the World Health Organization, she collated policy and survey data to inform the development of guidelines for small drinking-water supplies. With the Natural Resources Defense Council, she contributed to advocacy for an accountability framework under the Glasgow Declaration through forest policy analysis and stakeholder mapping. Meanwhile, at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, she researched the evolving needs and gaps in sustainability-related executive education.
At the Asian Development Bank, she supported the organisation of the inaugural Sagarmatha Sambaad 2025, a high-level global dialogue on climate change and mountains. She worked closely with the Secretariat, editing technical content, developing the youth session concept note, coordinating with national and international stakeholders, and assisting with overall event logistics.
She has also co-led climate adaptation, environmental governance, and circular economy initiatives in Nepal, with a focus on youth engagement and grassroots advocacy.
Bisrantee holds a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Yale University, USA, and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Kathmandu University, Nepal.
