About the meeting

This regional consultation will bring together experts and policy makers for knowledge sharing on the current status of horticulture in the hilly areas of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member states. Participants will discuss future prospects and development programmes to strengthen horticulture in hilly areas.

 

Objectives

  • Update the current status of horticulture activities in the hilly areas of SAARC member states, including (among other topics) land covered under crops, crop varieties grown, biodiversity, and women participation in livelihood improvement activities.
  • Create a common understanding by sharing knowledge among member states and prepare a participatory work plan for future activities
  • Identify challenges, prospects, and potential for improving the livelihoods and nutritional security of people living in hilly areas
