ICIMOD Staff Visit Bhutan


Basanta Shrestha, MENRIS Regional Programme Manager, and Deo Raj Gurung, Remote Sensing Specialist, visited Bhutan to follow up on planned 2013 SERVIR-Himalaya activities and to identify opportunities to align SERVIR initiatives with Bhutan’s 11th Five Year Plan. The week-long visit, 15–22 March included visits to different government agencies, where they met with senior government officials, including the Secretaries of the Ministry of Information and Communication and Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF), Minister of MoAF, and the Prime Minister.

The team also visited Sherubtse College, where they held discussions on ways to support the Center for Climate Change and Spatial Information under the Department of Geography and Planning.
