ICIMOD Participates in Campaign to Promote Tree Plantation in Kathmandu

ICIMOD participated in a programme organized by Children for Green New Nepal (CGNN) for All Together for Trees and Campaign for 1,000 trees in Patan Durbar Square in Nepal on 8 February. ICIMOD publications were available, including information about the ICIMOD Knowledge Park at Godavari, and flyers about green economy for sustainable mountain development were also displayed. Thirty schools from Nepal participated in the event by exhibiting models and art based on the importance of trees for the environment and for future generations. 

The programme was inaugurated by the Minister of Forest and Soil Conservation, Nepal and representatives of the European Union (EU), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and US Agency for International Development (USAID) also highlighted the importance of tree plantation in Kathmandu. ICIMOD was the only organization to displaying and distributing various publications, leaflets and brochures.
