The annual review and planning workshop on activities of the Himalayan Climate Change Adaptation Programme (HICAP) in the Salween and Mekong basins was organized at ICIMOD 10–12 December. The workshop provided a platform to share experiences and lessons among the partners working in the Salween and Mekong basins, with a focus on Yunnan Province. In addition to ICIMOD colleagues, 23 participants from different partner institutions in China attended the conference, including representatives from the Kunming Institute of Botany, Asia International Rivers Center, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chengdu Institute of Biology, Centre for Mountain Ecosystem Studies, Women and Development Centre, Institute of Economics, and Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, as well as an expert from the University of Sussex, UK. During the workshop, activities for 2013 were planned in line with the overall HICAP goal: to enhance the resilience of mountain communities and communities downstream with a special focus on women.
