Long-term ecological monitoring is one of the key components of the Kailash Sacred Landscape Conservation Initiative (KSLCI). To build the capacity of partner institutions to carry out this task, ICIMOD will conduct a two-week field training on alpine biodiversity monitoring in Nepal using the Global Observation Research Initiative in Alpine Environments (GLORIA) methodology. The training will take place at two newly-established, long-term monitoring sites in Humla district of Nepal. Participants will include two individuals from each country involved in the KSLCI – China, India, and Nepal. Local people and representatives from the concerned departments of the Government of Nepal will also be involved.
