A two-day inception workshop

Under the HCD/AU project, a two-day inception and curriculum review workshop took place on 30-31 August 2008 at the Ministry of Higher Education, Kabul, Afghanistan, with 85 participants, including university deans and professors, and education professionals. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Diederik Prakke, HUC Programme Manager, and Prof. Dr. Anwar F. Chishti, Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Office of International Programs & Services, NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar, Pakistan. The purpose of the workshop was to make Afghan Universities aware of the changing global scenario in the job market and also within the country and develop an adaptation approach to address the challenges.

An english language test was held for 30 Afghan faculty members parallel to the workshop to assess the level of competency in English. Based on the test results, the faculty members were advised and assisted in identifying courses to upgrade their English language proficiency to the level required for successful studies abroad
