Mr Bajracharya is currently working as a Remote Sensing Specialist in Glacier Mapping and Monitoring in Mountain Environment Natural Resources’ Information Systems (MENRIS). He has started his professional career with ICIMOD in 1999 as a Geomorphologist/GIS Analyst. He had made significant contributions to the inventorying of glaciers and glacial lakes of Nepal, Bhutan, India, China and Pakistan from 1999 to 2004, and in the capacity building of regional partners. He had played an instrumental role in developing the methodology for semi-automatic glacier mapping and monitoring using remote sensing and GIS applications. In particular, his efforts and contributions towards ascertaining the status of glaciers of Hindu Kush-Himalayas (Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan) are significant. His research studies in the areas of geomorphology, glaciers, glacial lakes, and hazards over the last 25 years have resulted in the publication of more than 50 papers, including a couple of books and contributions in international research books.
