Dr Nani Ram Subedi joined ICIMOD in January 2003 as the Coordinator of the Community-Based Advocacy Strategy Programme. He holds a PhD in Decentralisation and a Master’s in Political Science from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He has authored more than 30 contributions on community development, decentralisation, and good governance, including more than 10 research papers and articles. Before joining ICIMOD, Dr Subedi served as Project Manager and Training Specialist with CARE Nepal (1995–2002), a Program Associate with the Participatory District Development Programme of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) (1999–2000), a Social Development Consultant with Nepal-United Kingdom Community Forestry Project (1994–1995), a Training Officer with Helvetas Nepal (1990–1993), and an Education Officer with Swiss Development Cooperation’s (SDC’s) Integrated Hill Development Project (1987–1989). Dr Subedi has strong expertise in institutional building processes at the grass roots, capacity building initiatives, and rights-based approaches for development interventions.
