The Forum was organised by ICIMOD in collaboration with the Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) under the framework of the SERVIR-Himalaya initiative and supported by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and USAID. Dr Jnanendra Nath Biswas, Additional Secretary and Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council; Dr. Atiq Rahman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies; Dr. Eklabya Sharma, Director of Programme Operations, ICIMOD; and Basanta Shrestha, ICIMOD addressed the Forum.

Earth observation combined with geographic information systems provides a powerful platform and a visual and interactive aid to inform people on various issues related to natural resources and climate change. Exposing young people to such innovative tools and technologies can help them to understand climate change issues better, and to use scientific approaches in policy advocacy. The Youth Forum aimed to increase awareness among young people about climate change in the Himalayas and enable them to take better informed decisions for climate action in the region.
