The objective of the workshop was to create a platform for cross border sharing and learning on glacial lakes and their management. Taking part were experts, practitioners, and decision makers from the Andes, and from the central Asian and Hindu Kush-Himalaya regions. Under discussion were coping and adaptation strategies, taking into consideration the lessons learned in the regions. The outputs aimed to engage the participants in a process of identifying areas of partnership that could be of mutual benefit for mountain communities in adapting to the growing impacts of climate change. The workshop was organised around three activities: a 20-day glacial lake expedition to the Imja Lake in Sagarmatha National Park, thematic discussions, and a two-day workshop with additional invitees to join in the dialogue.
