The Honeybee Project, ‘Improving Livelihoods through Knowledge Partnerships and Value Chains of Bee Products and Services in the Himalayas’, together with its partners, organised a project inception workshop from 29 to 30 April 2011 at Rangamati, Nepal. The purpose of the workshop was to prepare work plans for the project partners – Parbattya Jumia Rehabilitation and Environmental Conservation (PAJURECO); Khagrachari and Eco-development, Bandarban; and Adibasi Sikhya Kaaj (ASHIKA), Rangamati – and to clarify the roles and responsibilities of all partner organisations including ICIMOD, ASHIKA, and Bangladesh Institute of Apiculture (BIA) in implementing project activities. The output of the workshop was a detailed work plan including main activities to be implemented by partner organisations; timing of each activity; number of times each activity is to be implemented; suitable participants; the roles of ASHIKA, BIA and ICIMOD; and deliverables to be produced by the partners. Twelve main activities were identified as priority activities, and, out of these 12 activities, it was agreed that 5 common activities will be implemented together by PAJURECO and Eco-development, and the remaining 7 will be implemented independently by both partner organisations. ICIMOD and BIA will provide the technical support needed for the implementation of the project activities.
