28 February–4 March 2011: Regional training on 7th Sentinel Asia System (SAS) operation


A regional training on 7th Sentinel Asia System (SAS) operation was jointly organised by Sentinel Asia, ICIMOD, and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) from 28 February to 4 March 2011. The purpose of this training was to enable a large number of people involved in disaster management to learn how to use the Sentinel Asia Step2 System, as well as how to visualise and interpret satellite data obtained through Sentinel Asia.

A total of 25 participants from 6 of ICIMOD’s regional member countries (Bangladesh, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan) and members of Sentinel Asia, the Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC), and Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) participated in this event. Thirteen experts from JAXA, National Space Organization of Taiwan, ADRC, UNESCAP, Asian Institute of Technology, ICIMOD, Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan (RESTEC), National Central University of Taiwan, and Mediatelier Inc assisted in the training.
