8 March: ICIMOD’s first Annual Gender Champion Awards

For the first time in ICIMOD’s history, in honour and celebration of 100 years of International Women’s Day, ICIMOD launched its Gender Champion Awards. The awards people within ICIMOD who are effecting gender-positive change within the organisation, in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region, and beyond. The Gender Champion Awards were awarded in two categories: team and individual. The best gender-positive team was evaluated by a sub-committee of experts using both quantitative and qualitative criteria. The two individual champions were chosen by ICIMOD colleagues through a participatory online and direct voting system. We are proud to announce that on 8 March Director General Dr Andreas Schild awarded Muhammad Ismail and Bidya Banmali Pradhan the Gender Champions Award in the individual category and the Biodiversity Conservation Management Action Area team in the team category, based on their innovative work, support, and advocacy on gender issues and equity within the Centre.
