Mani Nepal

Mani Nepal is Programme Coordinator, SANDEE, and Lead Economist at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). Before taking up the role in January 2018, he worked at SANDEE in different capacities: Research Programme Manager, Senior Environmental Economist, and Environmental Economist. His research interest is in applied economics including non-market valuation of environmental goods and services, household energy, climate change, survey design, impact evaluation of programmes and policies, and development issues such as poverty, inequality, and conflict. He has worked as Associate Professor of Economics at Tribhuvan University, Nepal; Adjunct Professor at the Agriculture and Forestry University, Nepal; Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico, USA, and Visiting Faculty at Kathmandu University, Nepal. He has held the positions of Senior Economist at the Department of Finance and Administration, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, and Economist at the Nepal Foundation for Advanced Studies and Agricultural Projects Services Center, Nepal. He has an MS degree in Policy Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA and a PhD in environment and development economics, and applied econometrics from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA.
