HUC Academy 2017 on Disaster Risk and Water Management

Call for Nomination

The HUC Academy is an annual intensive programme organized at ICIMOD or a member of the Consortium, providing opportunities for young researchers to engage in cross-disciplinary scholarship.  It aims for a new generation of transformational leaders committed to mountain research, capable of producing consequential knowledge, innovate policies and environmentally responsible business practices to address HKH mountain challenges from trans-boundary perspectives.

In order to assist the consolidation and sustainability of the HUC network, the World Bank provides a grant for a period of 18 months (January 2017 – June 2018) aiming at strengthening partnerships of research institutions in the HKH region working on issues of significance to regional water resource management.  The Project consists of two broad components, namely strengthening the partnership of HUC member research institutions and enhancing the capacity for collaborative research in the region. The HUC Academy 2017 on Disaster Risk and Water Management is part of the capacity building activities of this Project.  The Academy will take place between 03 and 12 July 2017 at ICIMOD, Kathmandu, Nepal.

The Academy targets PhD/Doctoral scholars and MSc/MA/MEng students and initial career faculty members from the HKH countries who are conducting research and training on the issues.

The original deadline for nomination was 15 April 2017.  The Call remains open  until 1 May 2017.
