Antonia Sutter, a Swiss national, joined ICIMOD’s Livelihoods Team as a Junior Professional Officer in September 2014. She is working on food security and nutrition issues in climate change adaptation, mainly for the HICAP Initiative.
Sutter has worked for several development and research initiatives on climate change adaptation and food security in Eastern Africa. After her studies she joined a research initiative on climate change impacts on industrial fisheries in South Africa, jointly implemented by the University of Cape Town (UCT) and WWF South Africa. In Mozambique, she was assigned to the African Development Bank and Helvetas Mozambique climate proofing agricultural projects. Later she worked on environmental issues in a spatial planning project for UN-Habitat Mozambique. All these assignments included extensive fieldwork. Before joining ICIMOD, Antonia worked for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) as a JPO for the Global Programmes Food Security and Climate Change.
Antonia Sutter holds a master’s in environmental sciences from ETH Zurich, and specialised in biogeochemistry and pollutant dynamics.
