ICIMOD and 3ie Sign MoU

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to have a long-term collaboration in promoting impact evaluation for evidence based policy development in the HKH region was signed on 23 November 2015 by David Molden, Director General of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and Emmanuel Jimenez, Executive Director of the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation’s (3ie).

The memorandum details how the two parties will cooperate in activities to be conducted including allocation of support and resources. Along with impact evaluation, the two organisation will cost-share to hire an economist with impact evaluation experience. The economist will be located with ICIMOD’s monitoring and evaluation team and will manage Nepal’s country policy window (NPCW) and promote the impact evaluation programme. 3ie will offer its technical support to build ICIMOD’s capacity in impact evaluations and systematic reviews for the bursary programme.

Molden shared his optimism for the future of the alliance.

‘This partnership with 3ie brings more rigour into our work to better evaluate what really works, what does not work, and how we can improve on our programmes’, the director general said.
