Sushma Acharya joined ICIMOD as a Field Research Associate in April 2015. Prior to joining ICIMOD she worked as a Research Associate at the Nepal Water Conservation Foundation (NWCF), where she was also a focal person for ICIMOD’s Spring, Storage Tower and Water Conservation research programme, which is part of the Koshi Basin Initiative. Ms Acharya holds a Master of Environmental Management and Sociology/Anthropology and has nearly six years of experience in various fields of environmental management. She was involved in the spring water resources management study in the mid hills of Nepal, funded by ICIMOD and a similar project funded by the Finnish Government. She has conducted many environmental impact assessments for solid waste management and has done some pioneering work in the field of e-waste and environmental effects in Nepal, which resulted in the publication of her research book by Lambert Publishing House, Frankfurt, Germany. At ICIMOD, Ms Acharya will support the spring water management team in the Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE) initiative.
