Sunayana Basnet joined ICIMOD’s Kailash Sacred Landscape Initiative (KSLCDI) under the Transboundary Landscapes Regional Programme in August 2016. She is working under the direct supervision of Dr Janita Gurung for the Long Term Environmental and Socioecological Monitoring (LTESM) team, and is also associated with the KSL Information System.
Basnet has a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Kathmandu University, and worked as an intern at ICIMOD from April 2015 to March 2016. She was associated with the Rural Livelihoods and Climate Change Adaptation in the Himalayas (Himalica) Initiative under the organization’s Livelihoods Theme. Her internship focused on research on domestic and regional tourism at the destination management level in the Hindu Kush Himalaya. Her research interests include sustainable development, tourism destination management and eco-tourism.
