Marcello Notarianni is an economist with over 16 years of experience in sustainable tourism development. He holds a Bachelor of Economics and Banking and a Master of Tourism Economics from Bocconi University (Italy). Mr Notarianni’s career began in market analysis, feasibility studies, and marketing activities for hotels, tour operators, tourism products, and destinations. He gradually shifted into sustainability and special interest tourism products and now focuses on sustainable tourism policy, management, marketing strategies, standards, product development for environmental and cultural destinations, and self-financing mechanisms for protected areas. Mr Notarianni is also an accomplished trainer for various universities and research centres. He has worked with a range of international organizations including UNDP, UNWTO, EU, IADB, ITC/ILO, SNV, and Italian Cooperation in over 20 countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America. He also has significant exposure to major international development programmes including GEF, MDGs, ST-EP, Inclusive Business, EU Asia Invest and Life Program, and was involved in the International Year of Ecotourism 2002. As SNV Sustainable Tourism Program Leader in Central America and Network Leader for Latin America, he gained practical experience on inclusive business models, using the tourism value chain as a tool for poverty alleviation. Mr Notarianni has written and collaborated on many successful international publications. He is member of some ITC/ILO, IUCN-WCPA TAPAS group, and UNWTO. Marcello brings international experience in sustainable tourism promotion to strengthen our tourism expertise.
