ICIMOD’s Koshi Basin Programme (KBP), in partnership with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), Nepal and Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), India, are conducting a state-of-the-art study on the sediment dynamics in the Koshi River Basin. As part of the study, a field visit has been planned for 24–29 March 2015 to:

  • Collect rock and sediment samples from the high and middle altitude mountains of the Koshi basin for geochemical laboratory analysis at IIT Kanpur, India
  • Understand the contribution of sediment load from different geographic regions

The team will visit different locations and tributaries of the Koshi basin to collect the samples. There will be three participants from IIT Kanpur, one from DHM, Nepal and one from ICIMOD.
