Joint Workshop Between FICCI and ICIMOD "Role of the Corporate Sector in Sustainable Mountain Ecosystem Goods and Services"


The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and ICIMOD are partnering to jointly organize a workshop titled: “Role of the Corporate Sector in Sustainable Mountain Ecosystem Goods and Services” on 6th Feb 2015. This workshop will be back-to-back with FICCI’s annual event – “India Climate Policy and Business Conclave” on Feb 3-4, 2015 at FICCI House, New Delhi. 

The overarching objective of the joint workshop is to create a platform for dialogues among the private sector, government, development organizations and other stakeholders to share ideas on how they can collectively contribute to the sustainable mountain ecosystem goods and services.

More specifically, the objectives of the workshop are as follows:

  • Leverage and position FICCI and ICIMOD’s strengths towards fostering interest and engagement of the private sector for partnerships to promote strategic business engagement  to contribute to sustainable ecosystem,

  • Promote and stimulate private sector interest and involvement in the mountain ecosystem sustainability, 

  • Highlight the social and environmental risks and opportunities for business in relation to mountain goods and services, 

  • Create appropriate business engagement platforms.

For the purpose of the workshop, there would primarily be three themes as follows:

  1. Conservation of Mountain Ecosystem Services: Risks of Supply of Goods and Opportunities for Businesses

  2. Water Resources: What Corporates Need to Know about Sustaining Long-term Operations

  3. Climate Change in Mountain Areas: Impact on Businesses and Innovate Solutions for Indian Corporates
