Dr Roland F Steurer

Dr Roland F. Steurer, born in 1953, earned a Master’s degree in Economics in 1979 and a Ph.D.in Rural  Development and Agricultural  Marketing in 1987 from Albert-Ludwigs  University  in Freiburg, Germany.  After  working  with  the International Fund  for  Agriculture  Development (IFAD) in Rome, Italy, he joined the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) in 1988 as Chief Technical Advisor. As GIZ Country Director, he has served in Bangladesh, Bolivia, Sri Lanka, and Egypt,  and has been working in Nepal since 2012. Dr Steurer’s main areas of expertise are strategic portfolio management, rural development and micro finance, as well as disaster risk management and conflict transformation.
