IPROMO - International Program on Research and Training on Sustainable Management of Mountain Areas

This year’s
IPROMO (International Program on Research and Training on Sustainable Management of Mountain Areas) Post Graduate Diploma Course organised by the Mountain Partnership jointly with the FAO, UNESCO and University of Turin took place in Italy from 18 July to 1 August 2009. The event gathered 30 participants from 17 countries
of Europe, South America and Asia on a topic of Economic Opportunities for Mountain Development with the largest number of participants from Asia Pacific.

Under the overall study topics of Forest Management, Ecotourism and Agriculture for mountain regions, guest lectures and seminars were delivered on Impacts of Global Change, Value Chain Approach, Environmental Management System, Sustainable Development, Networking, Collaboration and Policy by the researchers, politicians, experts, diplomats and entrepreneurs. Field trips to Aosta, Grosseni, Alagnia Valsesia, Sussa and Valsangone of the Italian Alps were organized to see the community based tourism and local enterprise development sites.
