Students and Professionals Trained on Glacier Hydrological Modelling through Cryosphere Monitoring Project

Through ICIMOD’s Cryosphere Monitoring Project, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Dr Joseph Shea organized training in Glacier Hydrological Modelling from 8-12 December at ICIMOD. Participants included eight students from Kathmandu University, two students from Tribuvahn University, and representatives from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), and the Water, Energy, and Climate Secretariat (WECS). The training covered essential theoretical aspects of glacier hydrological modeling, and provided an introduction to R, an open-source modeling and statistical analysis environment.  Participants worked with datasets collected in the Langtang Valley of Nepal as part of the Cryosphere Monitoring Project.
