ICIMOD Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Thirty years ago, an idea to create an organization dedicated to working on issues relevant to the people and environment of the Hindu Kush Himalayan region led to the formation of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development. This year, ICIMOD is celebrating its progress and learning after three decades of working for the men, women, and children of the Hindu Kush Himalayan region.

The Centre’s 30th Anniversary is being observed throughout the year and will culminate during the anniversary of the inauguration of the Centre on 5 December. Planned activities include:

  • 30th Anniversary Logo created through an internal logo design competition
  • Water and Life: 2013 ICIMOD Water-themed regional digital photo contest, also marking the International Year of Water Cooperation
The winners were announced during the Centre’s activities for World Environment Day. The contest was held as a part of the celebration of ICIMOD’s 30th anniversary, and the theme was chosen to coincide with the United Nation’s International Year of Water Cooperation 2013.
