ICIMOD staff recognized


ICIMOD’s Senior Disaster Risk Reduction Specialist, Hari Krishna Nibanupudi has been awarded the prestigious Mary Fran Myers (MFM) Scholarship 2013 for his contribution to the area of disaster risk reduction. 

The scholarship is awarded by Natural Hazard Center, University of Colorado at Boulder, U.S.A., and recognizes outstanding individuals who share Myers' commitment to disaster research and practice and have the potential to make a lasting contribution to reducing disaster vulnerability. 

As a winner of the scholarship, Hari Krishna Nibanupudi was invited to attend the 37th Annual Natural Hazard Research and Application Workshop at Broomfield, Colorado, from 11 to 18 July 2013 where he presented natural hazard issues and resilience practices in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. 

Before joining ICIMOD, Hari Krishna Nibanupudi worked for the World Bank Institute and Oxfam for over a decade. He is an active contributor to global disaster risk reduction policy dialogues and practices with a particular focus on gender inclusive disaster risk reduction. He has also been serving as a member and chair of MFM Global Gender and Disaster Awards for the last four years.
