Eye on Asia: More Players, Smarter Rules, Better Outcomes- 2013 World Water Week

A two-member team will represent ICIMOD at the 2013 World Water Week in Stockholm to be held from 1 to 6 September 2013.

The theme this year is ‘Water Cooperation  - Building Partnerships’, and based on the theme, ICIMOD will be co-convening two sessions on ‘More Players, Smarter Rules, Better Outcomes’ on 3 September 2013 from 09:00-12:30 and 14:00-17:30 in Room B9/10, Stockholmsmässan, Älvsjö, Sweden.

The sessions are part of the seminar convened by the Asian Development Bank since 2008 during World Water Week called ‘Eye on Asia’, which features a day-long activities that promote a better understanding of water issues in the region and the efforts of governments and development agencies to address them.

River basin management is emerging as a critical and most challenging task in water resources. As water is recognized as a constraint on economic activity and water quality and quantity impact the daily life of people, stakeholders are seeking greater transparency and more responsive institutional arrangements to provide a water-secure future for all.

‘Eye on Asia - More Players, Better Rules, Smarter Outcomes’ will explore the complexity and scale of basin management with participants in an interactive gaming setting.

Other co-conveners of the seminar are Asia Pacific Water ForumGlobal Water Partnership, and World Wide Fund for Nature.
