I assess the current status of ecosystems in the HKH region and the factors – such as climate change and anthropogenic drivers – that are affecting these ecosystems, through the application of Earth observation technology.

How do you protect the pulse of the planet?
I keep a close eye on the natural ecosystems in the HKH region using remote sensing tools and make sure that observed and predicted changes in these ecosystems are informed to the relevant decision makers for enhancing decision making.
What is your favorite part of the work you do at ICIMOD?
The vibrant workplace, enormous scope for innovation in the work, good teamwork, and a lot of energy keep me highly motivated to work here.

I am passionate about the way nature acknowledges and responds to changes!
I have a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India and my dissertation work focused on “Application of Earth observation technology for biodiversity conservation in biodiversity hotspots in India.” I also completed an MSc in geoinformatics and a BSc in botany from Pune University.
